.THOUGH the weather man continues to play with the water faucets, racing enthusiasts need have no fears that tomorrow’s pro gram will be interferred with. That is, it will not be unless the rain con tinues to fall tomorrow, for officials of the Cedar Rapids Amusement company asserted today that “it can rain all day and tonight and if the sun shines tomorrow the track will be in fine condition.” The Frontier park track is so well drained that only a heavy rain the day of a meet can prevent racing. It was reported to be in excellent shape yesterday, and today’s driz zle will tend to pack it down and prepare it for tomorrow’s onslaughts. With twenty-five pilots entered, including some of the most promin ent drivers in the middle west, a series of thrilling brushes is assured. The definite entrance of D. D. Morris of Chicago yesterday brought the number of favorites to at least six, and when the speed demons go to their marks, after tomorrow morning’s time trials, the ultimate winner will be a tossup. Johnny Gerber, Gus Schrader, Johnny Bagley, Wilson Pingrey, Bob Hoffman and Vernon McCombs are only a handful of those conceded a chance to take the heavy money, and with the class,of talent such as is entered for the Sabbath at taction the existing records for the half-mile strip are in serious danger of being lowered.
