Water Covers Greater Part of site Reserved for Automo bile Travelers, Leaving Seant Room for Tents, The municipal camping ground for @timobile tourists at Second street and Tiieras avenue—within easy vis ual ravine from the windows of the ely hall-now in the scene of a charming bike whose charms include not only weliess but also a greenish color, bout tourists, who expected to find only desert sands, do not show any reckless enthusiaem for the un expected scenery. A lake shore camp ing site in the heart of New Mexico doesn't appear square with their idea of the fitness of things. The lake, while not deep enough to offer refuge for a U-boat or broad enough to float the Leviathan, is suf ficient. It covers the greater part of the camping ground, leaving room for the tourista to pitch their tents only along the fences. There were several times there last night, giving a credit-« alle semblance of a Maine woods arene at night, whose realism lacked only heavy timber—of which there is lithe on the camping ground. That there were not more was possibly due to the lack of foresight of tourists who did not have convertible automobiles «eOonvertible into horseheats. Per haps those who arrived after dark and could not read the large sign at the gate announcing that 1 Was the mu nicipal camping pro units thought the place was a private fishing preserve and the sign warning against tres Puering. The iake was not the only pretur ferne bit of scenery about the ground. The emproving tank, mounted on wheels, which at one time did valiant fergies against the so-called coatton nuisance, stood there rusted and Westher collered. The camping ground was estab lished several years ago at the sub cestion of at the Wt. Sellers, the iles being to xive tourists who passed threigh the city a place to camp. That the sea was a good one has been shown tithe after time by the crowded condition of the place. Hundreds of touristen have visited the place since its establishment and until recently probably have gone away with afs tornhin impression of the citys’ thorehifulneas—nothing of Colonel Sellers.
