Tbe Mayor stated that he was satisfied that tbe Jury wore entirely mistaken as to the Asylum. It had never in ten years, been so well managed as at present. Two ladirs who had daughters there had called on him that morning to express their perfect satisfaction with the establishment and to state that, in their opinion, the report wts a tissue of m's akes from beginning to end.Mr. Diamond, Administrator of Police, nnder whose jariediotion the Ilocse of Refuge i-t, reported that be bad suspended 'the cfflo«re in charge of that institution and asked for tbe appointment of a committee to investigate tbe matter. On motion a oommittee. constituted as follows, was appointed: Mayor Piltbary, Adm;nistrators MoCsffrey and Rsngstorft, and Dr Clioppio, President Board of Health.Tbe committee visited the House of Refuge Friday.
