HJC has new president|HILIJsBORO — A Waco native has been selected president of Hill JuniorCollege in Hillsboro the HJC Board ofRegents.I)r William Robert Auvenshine signed a two year contract andVill begin his new duties July 1. Dr Auvenshine replaces Dr Elbert Hut chins who resigned his position as HJC president to accept a similar position with Wharton Junior College W T Crouch of Itasca, president of the Hill Junior College Board of Regents, said that the new junior college president was selected from an original field of 26 applicants.Crouch said that the board then narrowed its selections to eight, interview ing four a night during two special meetings He added that from those eight the applicants were narrowed to three Crouch said. “We've got a real fine man to do the job He comes from aCamp Fire To Host Day Campjunior college about the size of ours. We thought he would fit in here real well We look forw ard to working with him.Dr Auvenshine comes to HJC from Ranger Junior College where he has been serving as Dean of Student De velopmerH since 1972 He w as respon sible for the administration and supervision of the total student perDr. Auvenshinesonnel department.The new college president said Hil Junior College is “about the same size” as Ranger. Ranger Junior College has about 600 on-campus and 300 off campus students It has off-campus centers in Graham. Comanche and BrownwoodHill Junior College has off-campus centers in Cleburne. Joshua and Meridian.Dr Auvenshine was born in Waco and is a 1955 graduate of Waco High School. He received an Associate of Arts degree from Arlington State Junior College in 1957 and a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Christian University in 1959. He received a Mas ter of Science degree in 1967 from West Texas State University in 1967 and Doctor of Education degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1973His wife, Anna, also is a native of Waco and holds three degrees from Baylor University.The couple has two children.
