GEORGE ARTHUR LEWISFayette - George Arthur Lewis was born on Feb. 3, 1894, to William Quin and Rettie D. Tann Lewis, at Wadena, and departed this life on July 16 at Waterloo. He grew to young manhood on his parent’s farm, and then enrolled at Upper Iowa College where he graduated with a degree in business. He served for a time with the state conservation commission; was a long-time member of the Farm Bureau, from which he had received his 50-year membership pin.Lewis contributed faithfully to Children's Charitable Institutions. He was a member of the Fayette Wesleyan congregationwhere he attended as his health permitted.He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers. Surviving him is one sister, Mrs. Maye Kellner of Waverly; two nieces and three nephews, as well as two grandnieces and three grandnephews.Rev. Clayton P. Elsberry, pastor of the Fayette Wesleyan church officiated.Funeral services were July 19 at 2 p. m. at Belles- Wright Funeral Home with interment at Pleasant Hill cemetery.
