By Tommy Hays DIVERSIONS Claude Beavers, A. H. Fen oglio, W. W. Couch have re cently constructed diversion terraces on their farm. Di version terraces serve many purposes such as diverting water to and from farm ponds, keeping water from concen trating in gullied areas, farm stead and cultivated fields. The concentrated water col lected by a diversion feeds to be emptied on good grass. Ronald Maindens, techni cian with the Soil Conserva tion Service, assisted the landowners in staking, de signing and checking their di versions. GRADE STABILIZATION STRUCTURE Flynn Stewart is in the pro cess of building a grade sta bilization structure. These structures are built to stab ilize gullied areas and have a pipe in them for the main spillway. FARM POND W. L. Jeffries built a farm pond during the week. Ponds are built to supply livestock water. They have other uses, such as recreation, erosion control and water supply also. BRUSH CONTROL Dallas Hutson, W. L. Jeff ries, Paul White, G. P. White, Terry Morgan, T. O. Morgan, Warren Donaldson, Vera Par son and W. F. Hoeldtke are a few of the landowners doing aerial spraying to control brush. Brush shades grass, robbing the grass of plant nutrients and moisture. There are many ways to control brush. All require maintenance have their ad vantages and disadvantages.
