700,804 NEGRO PERSONNEL IN ARMY ON MAYJ, 1945Washington. D. C.—In the period between February 28 and May 1. 1945. the Army's Negro strength increased 10.022. offsetting a drop of 11.840 previously reported, the War Department announced today. Negro personnel numbered 700.804 on May 1. of which 4.003 were WAC3.AS of May 1, some 511.493 Negroes. including members of the Women's Army Corps, were nerving overseas.
