WAYLAND — The people of Springwater voted this week to keep their school open for grades 1 through 3, instead of sending these children to the Central School building in Wayland. The proposal was rejected by a vote of 66 to 21. On a similar proposal, the peo ple of North Cohocton-Atlanta, voted to close their school and send all the children in this community to the Central School in Wayland, 55 to 20. Both school districts are mem bers of the Wayland Central School district, but have had the children in the lower grades at tending schools in their own com munities rather than being sent by bus to Wayland.
