Is Wanted tor Murder(Continued from Tape One.)Iv destroyed. The firemen and citizens fought the flames for an hour and a half to save the block of closely-built frame structures. The Hoffman hotel was partly gutted. Fire also broke out in the Velvet building, two blocks away, but was put out.The fires, believed to be of incendiary origin, were started in the Collins building yesterday, but were put out by the occupants. Forest fires are 1 also in progress in this district owing 1 to the extreme dryness and heat.‘ I GARNISHEED WAGES.Rossland, B. C., Aug. 19.—A murder was committed in front of the Astor hotel on Saturday night when Joe Pe:esuri is said to have drawn a revolver and shot Louis Biunci , twice, killing him almost instantly. Bystanders saw the man putting his smoking revolver in his pocket• and start away quick.y. The police t were on the spot almost immediatelybut the assassin had got a start and was last seen going toward the Columbia Kootenay mine. The police had ' horses saddled and followed but al-■ though they hunted most of the night . could not locate him and he is still at large.Mr. Blanci had come to Rossland from Phoenix two days ago. He was formerly in Rossland and had decided• to locate here again. His wife had i been here about two weeks lookingup a house uni returned to Phoenix yesterday morning for the purpose of packing up her furniture. It is not known what- caused the shooting but it is rumored that Blanci who had formerly been in the grocery business , here had garnisheed Peccsuri for an old account.
