Two dogs were playing on the street railway tracks on Main street, St. Jo seph, yesterday afternoon when a car happened along and cut a leg off of each of the animals. Officer Servis re lieved the dogs of their suffering with a revolver. A dog belonging to Clem O'Conner, St. Joseph, byt Leopol Hassle, the milk man, yesterday afternoon and has been sentenced to death. Officer Servis has been appointed the executor. The sale of dog tags in Niles has been on for several weeks, but so far the clerk reports only three sales. The rest of the dogs are running tag less and the Niles Sun wants them shot at sight. City Clerk Leland D. Townsend owns one of the best behaved and best looking canines in J. Joseph. The dog recently posed before a camera with wonderful success. The photo will shortly be published in the art department of Munsey’s Magazine. That’s wonderful fame for a dog. In Kalamazoo a gas well is sub stained for the exclusive use of the dog warden in disposing of his live stock. Dogs placed in the well are said to die a pleasant death. It is considered inhuman by the celery city folks to shoot the curs.
