Roll Hailey, rural mail carrier and a brother of Postmaster Wm.E. Hailey, died in the home ‘of his mother, East Fourth street, at 11:45 o’clock last Friday morn- j ing. While he had not been real j well for some time, he was bed- j fast only from the preceding ( Wednesday morning, having car- • ried his mail route on Tuesday. ( His condition not improving all day Wednesday, Dr. Goodhue ( of Dayton was called in consul- , tation, and it was decided that . an operation was all that could . possibly pave his life, and this took place at 2 o’clock Friday morning. The operation disclosed that a large abcess of the bowel had eaten entirely through and caused peritonitis, resulting in his death. He was a profai-• nent Elk, was 34 years old and leaves his mother and brother to I mourn his early demise. Funeral services were held Monday, under auspices of the Elk lodge and burial made in Greenville cemetery.
