Com pare Favorably With New York Establishments—Ready for cre pancy the First Week in August. ‘The new home in Broad street of Frank Holt Co., to be opened the first week in August, is being entirely remodeled and decorated for the effective display and use of jewelry, aliverware and cutelise, the last two being new departments which, the old jewelry house adds on taking the new premises. The plane for the store at Browd and Academy streets provide for a special diamond room and an optical department and dark room. ‘The entire store will be enivhed in selected hand-polished mahog any, with wall cases of the same wood built on the side walls. ‘The display cases will be arranged after the usual fashion of better-class New York establishments. ‘The optical room will have a complete equipment of scientific apparatus and will be in charge of a first-class graduate optic alin whose competency in the examina tion of eyes and the selection of glasses will be guaranteed. The diamond room will be a special feature of the store, as the ‘fem will greatly enlarge to present well-known standards in this braces of the bitamens. The special cases that will be used for the display of the precious stones will contain one of the best exhibits of cut and uncut, mounted and unmounted stones In the city, Mr. Holt, as heretofore, will pay special attention to this branch of the business, and will have every facility for the mounting of diamonds and other precious stones In accordance with the taste of his custom. The cut glist and silverware depart ment will be well stocked with the best class of goods obtainable. The sterling ware will be equal to and better than the stock Mr. Holt has yet shown, and the pinted ware department will contain the best manufactured by well-known houses. Notes of the Building Trades. Plans have been completed and the archi tect, Edward V. Warren, of 22 Clinton street, is ready for estimates on the erect ion of a private residence for R. C. Dean, which will be built at 137 North Seventh street. ‘The structure will be two and one half stories high. f frame construction, 28 by 34 feet. Specifications call for steam heat, tie baths, slate roof, hard wood trimmings and floors, cabinet mantels and all modern improvements, including gas and electric fixtures.The structure will contain ten rooms and bath and cost about 510,000. About $3,600 will be spent by Joseph M. Wiggins, of 175 William street, on the erection of a two and one-half story build ing at 497 Avon avenue. The plans were prepared by Peter F. McLagan, of #0 Broad street, and call foreframe construc tion, 22 by 34 feet. Specifications call for all modern improvements except steam boat, ‘The building will contain eleven rooms. Ground has been broken on Market street, near Plane, for the erection of a loft building with two stores on the ground floor and four lofts on the floors above. ‘The structure was designed by Edward E Worth, off Market street, and will be ‘of brick, five stories, 8 by 7 feet. ‘The building will be owned by Roth Co., who will occupy the stores. ‘The es timated cost of construction is $00,000. A general contract has been awarded to the Lewis Parker Building and Construction Company, 15 Clinton street. About $10,000 will be spent by Peter German for the erection of a double flat at 282 Chadwick avenue, from plans as designed by William Moll, of 89 Park ave nue, Irvington. ‘The building will be of frame construction, three stories, as by 67 feet. All modern improvements will be installed, including steam heat, tile baths, ranges, plate tubs and sinks, cab inet mantels, and gas and electric fiatures. The building will contain six apartments of five rooms and both each. Plans have been completed and the architect, Charles Knopf, of 44 Spring field avenue, is ready for estimates on the erection of a five-family dwelling on the corner of Bigelow and Pesbine ave nues for Levy Brothers, of 165 Hillside avenue. The buiilding will be of frame construction, tree stories, 2 bys feet. Specifications cat for a slag roof, hot and cold water, ranges, tiled baths, mantels and gas fixtures. The owners build and are ready for estimates on all material. The cost is placed at about $9,000. Estimates are beig taken by the archi tect, R. D. Weeks, of 460 Bloomfield ave nue, Montclair, for the erection of a private residence on Park street, Montclair, for Stephen Powell, of New York. The build ing will be two and a half stories, of frame construction, 8 by 90 feet. Specifica tions call for a slate roof, steam heat, UM bath, hardwood floors and trim, cabinet and combination gas and electric .The ‘structure will contain thirteen rours and cost about $15,000, Lewis Quien, of 261 Elzabeth avenue, Elizabeth, it reads for estimates, as architect, for the construction of two at tached Nats at 649-051 Montgomery Street. The buildings will be owned by August Wolpert, of 615 Montgomery street, Eliza beth, and will contain three apartments of six rooms and both each.
