V. Leech, chaplain of the Senate, at Round Lake, a Saratoga suburb, on July 23, has written to the reverend centleman that his July appointments are such that it will be impossible for him to make the visit. A correspondent of the Philadelphia Press writes from the Blue Mountain House, Md.: “After having taken in most of the sights in this country, I am free to say that there is a vastness, a grandeur, and yet withal a charm ing beauty here that is unparcelled.” Next Wednesday evening has been decided upon as the date for the Grand Union Hotel garden party at Saratoga, for which extensive preparations are now being made. Miss Henrietta Vinton Davis, of Washing ton, D. C., is announced to give readings at Saratoga next week.
