Besides the dt» p snows of last winter I a year ago, and the unparallelled cold weather, when travel was rendered darikjerotts and almost impossible, and the freshets of this last spring, when bridges were sw**pt away, and the whole country was overflowed, lm has had to contend with the red tape of Washington and the unauthorized interference ot Territorial officials. But the indomitable energy of Galen has successfully com-\ batted the elements by regularly delivering , our mails, and defeated the gratuitous ofli- j ciousuess ot outsiders by complying with! i his contracts. The West Gallatin bridge has j | been repaired, and his coaches now make ; through daily trips to Helena and Virginia : Oily from this place, and are always on time.
