The Macs split a doubleheader with the ahwaysugh Sons of all Satirday, winning 4-3 and losing the tightcap 3-1. On Sunday the Macs, in a dou bleheader that was shortened by rain beat Oriskany Falls 8-5 be fore the second game win June’s Athletic Camp was called after five innings with the Macs winning 6-2. In the first game Saturday at Cooperstown the Macs with Cary Davis on the mound took off to an early 3-6 lead on the Sons of Italy when Jay Gage doubled in the third to store Bob Service and Jud Magrino. The Macs scored what proved to be the winning run in the next Frame when Mark Vivyan singled to drive in catcher Pete Wyse who had doubled. The Sons of Italy threatened in the seventh but Davis struck out Fred Pidgeon with the bases lraded for the second out of the inning before he was replaced by Vivyan. Vivyan got slagger Jim Benedick to force a third to end the game. Pidgeon hit a tremendous 350 foul home over the left center field fence in the fourth inning of the nightcap to tie the game at If The Sons of Italy scored the winning runs In the seventh on an error by Gage, a single and a hit and run single which drove in two runs.
