Report More Children Where Least ExpectedFigures on scholastic population Indicate that El Paso has si'own j about 5 per cent in the last year, a j preliminary estimate made at the' city schools offices indicated Wednesday.The figures will show ‘’a little better than 1000 increase in scholastics inside the limits ovt* the figures one year ago, when there were approximately 22,600 scholasticshere. jGains were made in districts where they were least expected,checkers report, and losses shown indistricts where gains were forecast.While figures have not been completed as to the number of scho-astics in El Paso county outside of • the city limits, a moderate gain was1 predicted by checkers. jOne feature of the suburban fig-!ures is the net loss of 98, or about 25 per cent, in scholastics at Clint. School trustees at Clint report that the activity of U. S. immigration officers in weeding out of the district Mexican school children whoare not residents of this country is responsible for the slump.A year ago the Clint district had 586 scholastics. This year’s check sliows only 412.Fabens made a slight gain, the total running a little more than 800.! Last year it was 800 even.
