Spike Factory kneiAn alarm of Art was givon Saturday night near eleven o’clock and the crowd that rushed down town soon discovered that the spoke factory was in flames. Those who first saw the fire were nnable to arrest its progress and in a very short space of time the entire building was a sheet of flames. The factory had been running during the dHy and it is supposed that it originated from fire near the en giue room. The entire building with a large quantity of material was consniued. The loss which is something over $10,000, is a complete one. The factory was owned by Small McGuire, the partners being Will Small, of Corinth, aud the McGuire Brothers, of Tupelo. The latter have accumulated their interest by hard labor and close attention to busiuess, and the loss falls heavily upon them. Ceorge McGuire, who had charge of the business, is recognized as one of the best timber men in the country and was making a fine success of his busiuess here. The entire country around has been benefited by the location of such a factory here aud it will prove a loss to many people. We feel, in eotnmon with eyery one in the community, many regrets that the loss has fallen so heavily upon our young friends who were deserving of every success. Whether or not the factory will be rebuilt here has not vet been determined.
