Refused $165 for His Horse—New Operator—Attended the Funeral.Mrs. Wm. Gilmore has returned from Ashtabula, O. On the way home she stopped at Arcade and helped Mrs. Maria Wood clean up from the effects of the flood.Mr. and Mrs. Frank Boynton of Ontario are visiting at Mr. Berdine’s.It is quite evident that the Spectator office was not washed away by the flood, as we were agreeably surprised upou receiving the papers at this office on Tuesday evening.Last Tuesday there were parties here from Buffalo to see John Powers’ horse as they wished to purchase one, but he refused their offer of $165. They looked at a number of horses but did not buy.Mrs. O. C. Williams and son, Clifford, returned Friday evening from a few weeks visit at Saranac Lake. They report Clarence’s health much improved. They visited Mrs. Williams’ sister, Mrs. Metcalf, at Warsaw a few days on their way home.W. C. Williams attended the funeral of H. S. Merrill at Little Valley on Saturday.A, D. Robbins of Perry visited at W, A. Henry's over Sunday. He was returning from Little Valley where he attended the funeral. Mr. Merrill was a resident of this town many years, serving six terms as supervisor. His many friends here deeply sympathize with the sorrowing family.The Franklinville telephone has reached this place. The phone was put in B. J. Charles’ store Friday afternoon, where the central office is.It was stated in the Spectator a short time Bince that Mrs,Kate Henry had sold her farm to Fred Evans. It was a mistake as she has just sold to Mrs, Dulcina Fox.Mr. Bookman and family are living in the house lately vacated by Burt Lane.Osa Strong of Freedom was at this place Monday evening.There is a great demand for dog muzzles now days.Eddie Schake, who has been night operator at this place for some time, is now at Leroy as day operator. W. Scott takes his place at this office.Mrs. Jennie Williams was at Freedom over Sunday.LewiB J. Leonard came home from Marlington, W. Va., a short time since. His sister, Mrs. James Mc-Murray, with her two youngest children, returned with him last week to join her husband there.Mrs. Minnie James returned this morning from East Arcade where she has been for a number of weeks.Miss Mary Sherwood returned
