The two houses and a garage sold at auction Monday to make room for 2 new city off-street parking lot brought $700. There was also additional income from outbuildings, steps and shrubs. The houses sold include those at 200 and 202 W. Briggs. The house on the corner at 200 W. Briggs was formerly owned by Fred Wray and the one at 202 was formerly owned by Dick Robinson. The properties were purchas ed by the Chamber of Com merce which in turn will lease them to the City of Fairfield. The city will purchase the lots from the Chamber of Commerce through parking meter funds. When paid for, the lots will become city property. No tax funds are involved in the trans action. Ruth Rasmussen submitted the highest bid of $300 for the Wray property during the sale which began at 1 p.m. Monday. Don Milholm purchased the Rob inson house for $370. Vern Nel son bought the garage at the rear of the Robinson property for $30. Chamber of Commerce offi cials said the buildings should be moved in 60 days and the lots cleared so work can be started in converting them to parking lots. They said a sur vey has indicated the area will park 55 cars. It was also stated that trees and shrubs in the parking, and the shrubs along the south alley lie will be kept intact. In ad dition, the parkings will be landscaped to make the area more attractive.
