The hats were worn in a contest which was part of Boy Scout Troop 62\s carnival held Sunday afternoon in Emmanuel Espiscopal Church parish house.The youngsters were competing for two transistor radios * one for the girls and one for the boys. Dixie Cooper, nine years old, far left, won the girl's radio and her brother Joey, seven years old, second from right, won the other radio. Left to right the contestants are DixieCooper; Alice Conroy, nine years old; Jimmy Conroy, seven years old; Joey Cooper, and Mary Lou Quattrocchi, also seven. Judge of the hat contest was Dick Sherman, of VVCHN Radio Norwich, who was also made an honorary member of Troop 62\s Indian unit. (Photos by Jerry Weaver)
