The Methodist W. F. M. S. meeting has been postponed until Tuesday July 19th. Recent floods in Kansas have done great damage to farm crops and to the railways. Several towns were also flooded and telegrams from the flooded parts state that 100,000 people have been temporarily driven from their homes. MARRIED;—On Wednesday July 13th at Ruby Creek by John E. Lane, Geo. Henry Wells of Willow Range Man, to Lillie Pearl Cleminger of Ruby Man. This week we are issuing bills for M. P. P. Robson's sale of pedigreed cattle. This will be the biggest sale of its kind ever held in the valley and arrangements have been made so that very resident will receive a bill. No farmer in the valley can afford to miss this opportunity of securing some of the best stock in Manitoba. Don’t forget the date—August 13th. We understand that a canvas is to be made shortly of the ratepayers in the ‘Municipality of Swan River in the matter of local option. A petition has been prepared for signatures and if 25 per cent of the rate payers sign it will be presented to the council asking that a local option bye law be submitted to the rate payers for their verdict at the Municipal elections in December. ‘The Dominion Short-Horn Breeders’ Association of Canada intend having representatives present at the Domin ion of Canada Exhibition at Winnipeg next month and Secretary Wade will be in attendance to give any informat ion regarding the Association which may be required. It is also the in tention of the Association to have an office on the grounds where they will be pleased to supply pedigree forms and transfer slips free of charge and to receive registrations, etc. This no doubt will be found a great convenience to the western breeders who may wish to make registrations at the time of the Exhibition’’ Perhaps the most flourishing end ‘enterprising business in Minitonas is the Hotel De Minitonas owned by A. L. Godin. At present he is having exten sive improvements, made, painting, plastering etc. and the building when complete will certainly be a credit to any up-to-date town. The success of this hotel is in a large measure due to the genial host Godin’s affable and en gaging manner and the supervision of Mrs. Godin at the tables. Referring to the latter, the Swan River guests have requested us to convey through the Star their thanks for the right royal hos pitality extended to them by the Hotel De Minitonas on Tuesday.
