FEARFUL TORNADO-1-1I0U3ES BLOWN DOWN.Two Persons Killed uud Others Fntnl-ly Injured.MRV, WOMEN AIX13 ( IIH.DKKN CAR-R1KD 11V TIIK 4V1N1) AM EIGHTH OF A Ml Lit.A Suit Xiglit’* Work.From Our Special Correspondent.Sauk Centuk, July 12, 1S60.Editor Journal.—Friday night was one that will bo remombered as the saddest kuowu lor a long time in this portion of the country. In the ovening a wlud-storm gathered in the south and south-west, an4 about eleven o’clock burst forth in all itsfury. The destruction of property at thisplaco was of but little account when com-, pared with that in other localities. About twelve miles south-west from here, in tho town of Raymond, in Stoarns county, wnsthe dwelling houso of n well-to-do and vc-spcclablo farmer, Mr. Richard Richardson, formerly of Rico county, in this State. At the time of tho commencement of the storm, he a ad his family were quietly enjoying their home, with othovs of the neighborhood who were stopping over night with them. I will give you the particulars as they were given me by Mr. Richardson and O'liors who were on tho spot, as well as what was seen by your correspondent.— About twelvo o’clock Mr. Richardsou remarked to his wife that ho feared they would have a hard storm. Before he could arouse the family or oven make any preparations himself, the tornado burst upon them with such force as to tear to pieces and scatter about for a distance of a quarter of a mile the entire house and its contents, together with the inmates. Thero were at tho timo twelve persons in tho building, the most of them up stairs asleep. It. was a block, (or log) house, 16x24, one and a half storios high, well dovetailed at the corners and pinned with two-inch oak pins.Mr. and Mrs. Richardson and one small child alone remained in the ruins of the house. John, the eldest son, 22 years old,was carried 34 rods and dropped ©n the ground, so badly bruised and mangled that there is but little hope of his recovery. George, tho second son, 13 years old, was aiso carried oO rods, and had his right ankle broken, the bone protruding through the flesh. He is also badly bruised ia many places. Willie, the third son, 3 years of age, was borne some 30 rods, and hurled to the ground so badly injured that ho lived only a few minutcB. Two other children, little girls, werq taken from their bed, twisted up in their bed clothing, and dropped on the opposite side of the building from the rest, unharmed. Mrs. R. received some slight injuries on and about tho head and face, but nothing serious.
