Sanford Soma officiated, and burial was in West Cemetery.Special music was provided by Mrs. Norma Sunde who sang “The f d Rugged Cross” and “The fjfcening Prayer,” accompanied by Pauline Prestegard, organist.Casket bearers were Mrs. Espeland’s grandsons, Rick Espeland, Steve Espeland, Craig Espeland, Tom Espeland, Wayne Espeland and Michael Asmus.Mrs. Espelartd died Thursday, July 7, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Forest City, where she had lived since December.Celia Lurenda Espeland, a daughter of Peter and Julia (Sevold) Christenson, was born Oct. 14, 1900, east of Randall inCtfLlA ESPELANDHamilton County. She was baptized there at St. Petri Lutheran Church. In 1911, the familymoved to Rake, and she was confirmed at Lincoln Lutheran Church.On June 6, 1925, she was married to Cyrus Ordean Espeland; and they became the parents of five children—Arden, Phyllis, Richard, Curtis and Roger.Mrs. Espeland is survived by four children, Arden of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Marlyn (Phyllis) Asmus of Clarion, Richard of Forest City and Roger of East Moline, 111.; her mother, Mrs. Julia Christenson of Timely Mission. Nursing Home in Buffalo Center; a sister, Mrs. Carl (Helen) Herem of Rake; 24 grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.»/She was preceded in death by her husband, Cyrus; her father; a* son, Curtis; three sister, Mrs.John N. Larson and Edith and Edna, twins who died as infants; and two brothers, Pleny Christenson and Elmer Christenson,Threshing bee setAn old-fashioned threshing bee is scheduled to take place at the Clyde Honken farm near Buffalo Center this Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. If it fains, the dates for the event will be rescheduled.The threshing machine is owned by Joe Wubben of Buffalo Center. Bundles will be hauled to the machine with two teams of horses, owned by Carl Badje, also of Buffalo Center.Old-fashioned plowing demonstrations, an antique tractor display, and a pot luck dinner are among the activities being planned for both days.PURCHASES HOMEMrs. Cora Heath purchased the Julia Christenson home at public auction on Saturday.
