The Minneapolis Aquatennial and Schon Productions’ present ‘“Fillmore’s Finest’’ in a festival setting, Friday July 19th at the St. Paul Civic Center. Featured artists in clude Santana, Mountain, Poco, and Aerosmith. In conjunction with the Aquatennial’s 35th an niversary celebration, Schon Productions will bring back the days of harmony and good vibes, that were so prevalent with the Fillmore East and West Ballrooms of the late 60’s. The festive atmosphere of those days will be evident, both musically and spiritually at this concert. Santana, the most well known of these bands, were considered one of the house bands at Bill Graham’s Fillmore West Ballroom in San Francisco. It was in fact at the Fillmore West where Carlos Santana built his band’s music and reputation into one of the most respec table bands to emerge from the turbuulent 60’s. Santana’s internationally appealing music has been heralded as one of today’s most exciting bands. Since the demise of Cream (Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker) many bands have tried to fill the void created by their absence. One of the most successful of these groups has been Mountain. Comprised of former Cream producer, Felix Pappalardi, on bass, Leslie West on guitar, David Perry on keyboards and powerhouse _ percussionist Corky Laing on drums, Mountain has a_ heavy dynamic sound, that wil highlight this already spec tacular show. One of the few American bands that has remained constant with American musical traditions has been Poco. Formed from the ashes of the late Buffalo Springfield, Poco has done much to inspire other musicians to confine their music in the country rock genre. With seven album releases behind them, Poco is one of those bands that keeps it happening. A relatively unknown band outside of musical circles, Aerosmith is a group of musicians whose enthusiasm for pure rock and roll is un paralleled. All former East coast collegians, Aerosmith decided to put away the books and dedicate their lives to music, the result being Aerosmith as one of the hot test groups to emerge from the East in years. This superb collection of Fillmore’s Finest will be Friday night, July 19th at the St. Paul Civic Center. Presented as one of the events of the prestigious Minneapolis Aquatennial, this will surely be a concert that will not want to be missed!
