Simonctte Lachaussee, son of Mr. and Mrs' St. Julian Lachaussee of Pascagoula, has added another medal to those he has been accumulating in the Italian Theater of War. as a member of an infantry division of the United States Army.This time it is the Bronze Star Medal and it was avCatded for meritorious service in combat on September 17-18, 1944, near Val-iappero* Italy.The accompany.ng citation reads:“Lt. Lachaussee consistentlyperformed his assignment with exceptional skill and unswerving devotion to duty. He workedday and night, personally organizing and supervising the transport of supplies and the evacuation of the wounded over difficult mountainous terrain. Lt. Lachaussee’s calm, efficiency and ability under fire were an inspii-ation to his men and contributed materially to the success of the attack. His action reflects great credit on himself and on theArmed Forces of the UnitedStates.”Lt. Lachaussee is entitled to wear the Purple Star because of having been seriously wounded in action in Italy.
