CHRISTENSEN FUNERAL RITES TO BE SUNDAYPeter Christensen, 81, a resident of the Dickens vicinity for the past 35 years, died early Thursday afternoon at his farm home, after an illness which extended over the past six months.Burial will be made at Riverside Cemetery on Sunday afternoon, following the funeral services which will be held at the homo at 1:30 o'clock and at the Bethany Lutheran church In Spencer at 2:15.! Peter Christensen, the son of Chris Benson Christensen and Mh-ren Kristine Thorsen Christensen, was born on June 10, 1854 near Aalborg, Denmark. When he was 28 years old he came to the United States bringing with him his bride, the former Lena Jenson.The couple settled near Cedar Falls and remained there for six years then moving In 1888 to a farm in Clay county 5 and one half miles south of Spencer. In 1899 the couple returned to Denmark but came back to Clay county a year later to live on a farm two miles north of Dickens.I It was there that Mrs. Christensen died in 1001, but Mr. Christen-'sen made that place his home un-l til his death, with the exception of the summer months which were spent at his cottage on East Oko-bojl.Three daughters were born lo the Christensens. All three survive. They are Mrs. Christina Sorenson of Dickens, Mrs. Mary Sorenson of Spencer and Mrs. Katie Christensen of Spencer. In addition to these three there are eight grandsons, throe granddaughters and three great-grandchildren surviving.A stater, Miss Anna Christensen, still resides in Denmark.Prior to his death Mr. Christensen had been ill since last Christmas. He spent some time in Rochester, Minn., undergoing treatments and for the past few months had been bedfast.Pallbearers at the funeral, will be thâ„¢ eight grandsons.
