At school he was a faithful and successful student. He spent two years at Hampden Sidney College, where he did himself credit. Selecting the Raw as hisfrofession, he attended the summer school of rof. Minor at the University of Virginia. At the time of his death he was prosecuting his professional studies diligently, and at the same time teaching school and acting ns county Superintendent of tho Public Schools. Under his Lard and confining labors the seeds of disease developed which rapidly brought his young life to a close.His “ran has gone down while it was yet day.” But it was a goldon setting, giving assurance of a bright rising. When hrst made aware that his end was near, he expressed surprise but not alarm. In answer to an inquiry as to his hope he replied. 1 have my Saviour. He saved me when I was vainly trying to save myself, and he will not forsake rne now. To a friend who inquired whether his weakness prevented meditation on his Saviour, lie answered, ' True, I cannot meditate continually, but ray faith is not interrupted, and when the iue comes I shall bo sustained. After lying for several hours unable to speak so as to ho heard,hefathered strength and, speaking loud enough to 0 heard in the adjoining room, eaid, ” My .Saviour is supporting me. 1 know he would.— Come Lord Jesus, come quickly.” And Jesus came quickly, lulfilling ins promise, I will come again and receive yon nnto myself; that where 1 am there ye inny he also.” Pastor.
