Embarkation op Troops for the Cape.—The 12th. (Prince of Wales' Regiment) Lancets, under command of Lieut, Colonel Pole, arrived at the Landport terminus of the South- Western Railway, from Winchester, at eleven o’clock on Saturday morning, and were met by the Lieut-Governor of Portsmouth, Lord Frederick Fitzclarence, and staff, and a number of other military officers, with the bands of the regiments in the garrison, who accompanied them into the dockyard, where, alongside the jetty, were the two freight ships, ready to convey them to the Cape; the Charlotte, an East India coasting-ship, manned chiefly with Lascars, and the barque Berkshire, both vessels of comparatively small tonnage, but fitted up most conveniently forthe accommodation and comfort of the troops. 'Thei (giment, with the women and children, amounting in all to nearly 500 persons, were divided between them, the larger ship having the greatest number on hoard. Among the great number of persons assembled to witness their departure, we noticed the Port Admiral, the Admiral Superintendent, Captain Lord Edward Russell, Captain Henderson, Lady Cupel, Mrs. Harvey, See., oh the jetty. The officers at men appeared in high jspirits. Each company of the Lancers has been supplied with 15 double-barrelled percussion fusee tor the use of the flank men of the companies; they are well made puces, weighing about 121bs., the fusee, single-barrel, weighing only 71bs. At about six o’clock in the evening both vessels were tpwed out of harbour by the Echo, and anchored at Spithead, and on Sunday morning, about 3 a.m. sailed, with a leading wind, down channel, at north, fir the Cape. So soon as Sir Harry Smith can dispense with their services at that colony, the 12th wtl proceed to India, to relieve the 3rd Dragoons. [The horses of the regiment have been left at Winchester; fresh horses will be had on tbeir arrival at the Cape, before theycn fn the frontier. !
