On Sunday, July 21, the Union Grove Baptist Church, 266 N. Champion, will observe its 51st annual Women’s Day, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Operating from the theme “Women Establishing a Vision - Persevering Through Faith,” this event is anticipated to be an anointed service that will feature guest speaker Eva Williams of East Chicago, Ind. Williams is an inspirational speaker who is a dedicated work er and leader in her denomination, locally and nationally. As a member of the Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Williams sits under the spiritual leadership of the Rev. Dr. J.C. Wade Jr. Williams serves as a Sunday school teacher and prayer inter cessor for the church; served as the national chairperson of dis trict conventions; state president of Church Women United; and served on the finance committee of Church Women United. In addition, she is the president of the Indiana Missionary Baptist State Women's Auxiliary; a member-at-large North American Baptist Women's Union; and president of the Central Region Federation of Colored Women’s Club. The Union Grove Praise and Worship team will lead the church into devotion for this event, and the Women's Day Chorus under the direction of Josephine Mack, minister of music, will give musical selections.
