Johnson of Troy was solemnized Saturday. June' 29, 1963 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Granite City.Rev. Elmer McElroy, an uncle of the bride, performed the double-ring ceremony before an altar decked with branched can-relabra, and baskets of white carnations, orchid pompons, and gteenery.Mrs. Jewell Everett was the pianist and accompanied Keithfor better light—hetter sinhtCurtis as he sang “The Lord’sI Prayer.| Candlelighters were twin cousins of the bride, Sharon and Karen McElroy.The bride, given in marriage by her father, was preceded down the aisle by Miss Judy Mills as maid-of-honor; Miss Cheryl Tucker, Miss Wanda Laswell and Mrs. Ray McGee as bridesmaids, and Karen Oz-bun as flower-girl.The bride chose a full-length dress of white silk orga/nza with a fitted bodice topped by an al-encon lace jacket The skirt had appliqued lace roses on the front panel, and the extremely full back was three tiers of organza edged with alencon lace. The long-square train also was rose appliqued* Her fingertip veil of illusion was edged with lace and secured to a Queen Ann’s crown of tulle and seed | pearls. Her bouquet was made j up of white carnations, lilies of i the valley with sprays of ivy centered with a detachable purple orchid.The attendants were identically dressed in street-length lilac chiffon gowns with bouffant skirts, draped midriff and lace jackets with three-quarterlength sleeves. Matching' headpieces with short veils were fashioned like the bride's. Their bouquets were of orchid popi-pons.The flower girl wore a short dress of white silk organza with a bouffant skirt of three scalloped tiers, each scallop featured a tiny lilac flower. She wore a crown and short veil and carried a white ’basket of lilac sweet peas.The groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Johnson of Troy, chose Dennis Kueker as his best man; Ed McElroy and George Whit-ford, cousins of the bride, and Marion Chasteen as groomsmen, Billy McElroy as ringbearer, and James Whitford and Gerald Boyer as ushers.The bride's mother wore a pink lace sheaith with matching accessories and a pink carnation corsage.The groom’s mother wore blue lace with matching accessories and blue carnation corsage.A reception was held M the Kirkpatrick Hall in Granite City following the ceremony.Miss D’Nita Boyer was in charge of the guest book.The groom is a graduate of the 1960 class of McCray-Dewey High School and is employed at Granite City Steel.The bride received her education in the Granite City schools.The groom’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Knackstedt of Granite City and Mrs. Mary Johnson of Worden, were present as well as out-of-town guests from North Carolina, Memphis, Knoxville, and Dover, Tennessee.A rehearsal dinner was given by the groom’s parents Friday, June 28, at the Kirkpatrick Hall.After a wedding trip through the southern states, the couple will he at home at 2219 East 23rd Street in Granite City.TASTY TREETDRIVE-INSandwiches — MaltsHorns 6:30 JLM. to 11:30 P.M.
