The following letter has been re ceived by the News-Herald in re sponse to a request for information from the Office of Information Ser vices concerning the death of Rodney Nichols, Vincent Air Force Base, Yuma, Ar izona, —.The body of A-2C Rodney M. Nichols, 19, 17th Tow Target, Squadron, who ‘drowned while swim ming in the ‘Colorado River Saturday was found Sunday morning, June 80 about 9 a. m. Members of the searching party, which included military members’ from the deceased own squadron, as well as representatives of the Yuma and Imperial County Sheriff's Offices formed a human chain across the river for the second day’s search. The body was found within a short distance of where it is supposed the victim drowned the previous day. Airman Nichols is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Sanford Nichols of Morning Sun, Iowa.
