Miscellany t-RUSH COUNTY WAR NOTES: Another of the county’s war veterans, who was wounded in action, has returned home with an honorable discharge. He is 1st Sgt. Holman Goodpaster of Milroy, discharged July 8 at Camp Atterbury. A long-time member of the National Guard at Greensburg, he had been in active service since the guard was federalized in January of 1941. 1st Sgt. Goodpaster had been overseas for the past ten months and he served in France, Belgium, Holland, England and Germany. The Milroy soldier was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Combat Infantry badge and E. T. O. and Occupation of Germany ribbons. . . . The name of T/5 Elmer O. Hahn of Laurel was included in a list of soldiers discharged at Atterbury over the week end but no other information was listed.Henry Wetzel, Y3/C, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wetzel of West First, is serving aboard a cruiser in the Pacific, according to a navy public relations dispatch. The 23-year-old local sailor is serving on a cruiser which took part in the invasions of Normandy and Southern France and more recently was in action at Iwo Jima and Okinawa. A graduate of Rushville high school, Wetzel was employed at the Glove company here before he entered the navy in November of 1942. He was trained at Great Lakes and at navy radio school, Northwestern university. His wife and son live in Columbus.CpI. Lowell F. Becraft, who is stationed in Brunswick, Germany, at what formerly was a Nazi airfield, will have a birthday August 4. He has a new address which may be obtained from his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Becraft, of 5151'2 West Eighth. . . . Pic. Dale C. Rose and ( pi. B. K. Newlin, brother of Nat Newlin of 601 North Arthur. is a patient at the AAF Regional and Convalescent Hospital, Miami Beach, Fla., according to an army public relations item. The soldier is receiving treatment, rest and convalescent services program to help him attain complete recovery, according to the communique. . . . I.t. John T.
