He was sitting on the veranda enjoying the cool breeze w hen the final attack came upon him and died within five minutes before a physician could reach him.The deceased, who was one of the best known and most progressive farmers in the county, was born July 14, 1863, in Van Wert county, Ohio, and thus lacked but a few days of being 38 years of age. His parents, Harveyand Mary Thornburg, removed to this county when he was less than a year old and became prominent In the community in which they settled. The boy, who was always familiarly known as Elsa, grew up on tha farm attending the neighborhood schools until, at 18, he became a teacher himself, continuing in the profession successfully until he turned to farming in 1886.In that same year he married Laura B. Grossman, daughter of David L. Grossman, and ste, with four child-dren, two sons and two daughters, survive him.Mr. Thornburg was always an active and ardent democrat and was once a candidate for township trustee and twice for county auditor. He belonged to the Maiinkuekee lodge of Odd Fellows. The funeral was held Sunday.
