Brown.Birth day surprise parlies are becoming very fashionable, but the one given in honor of Dr. \V. lb Brown’s G9lh anniversary, last Sabbath, JuJy Gtb, 1890, eclipsed anything of a similar character which has occured in tbi* portion of (’lav county for many months. The affair had been fully arranged without the recipient having been given an inkling of what was in store for him, and the first intimation the old gentleman had thal anything of the kind was about to take place was caused by the strains of music which greeted his ears as tire unnv of friends came marching towardthe bouse, headed bv bands of r *music. It is said limt the shock somewhat unnerved Mr. B. for a time, the surprise being so completely grand ami overpowering. He was the recipient of several presents, among which was a gold wutch chain, presented by two of his children. A fine dinner was spread, and there being three bands represented. the large audience was high-Iv entertained with choice selectionswof beautiful nuMe.
