Surprise on W. B. Brown.Birth day surprise parlies are becoming very fashionable, but theone given in honor of Dr. \V. B.% •Brown’s 091h anniversary, last Sab-bath, July Gth, 1890. eclipsed anything of a similar character whichhas occured in this portion of (’lav county for many months. The at fair had been fully arranged with out the recipient having been given j an inkling of what was in store for him. and the first intimation the old1gentleman had that anything of thekind was about to take place wasjcaused by the strains of musicwhich greeted Ins ears as the nnmof friends came marching towardthe house, headed bv hands of r *music. It is said llmt the shock somewhat unnerved Mr. B. for a-time, the surprise being so com-1 pletely grand and overpowering. He was the recipient of several presents, among which was a gold wut.di chain, presented by two of his children.
