Hillsborough, Caroline County, JMtf.Mr Editor.—'J here has been some excitement in this pnrt of the county, in consequence of tlie murdei of a fellow citizen by the hand of a brother.Mr Shelbv Jump conceiving that his brother Peter Jump, was too intimate in his family, avowed his intention to shoot him. Or. the morning of the 2d inst. he came to Hillsborough, settled his accounts with the merchants and others as far as he was able, voluntarily calling a magistrate and confessing judgments, c. and said he was going to die, but would first kill his brother. As he wus in' the habit of talking extravagantly, the people paid but little attention to what he said. He then rode to the residence of his brother, culled him out and shot him through the heart without dismounting.Retiring a little distance he re-loaded his gun, and went home where he rcmuincd unmolested till about 3 o’clock the next morning, when Sheriff Carter hurst the door and arrested hi in, before be could make anydefence.It is perhaps due to the memory of the deceased to stato that the suspicions formed against him are believed to be entirely without foundation.Eastern Shore Whig, July 7.
