Band-(Continued from Page 1)band was known then as the VFW Boys Band. Under the VFW and later American Legion sponsorship, the band received 20 National Championships. In more recent years, 11 the band won 11 Canadian championships.In 1957 the band became known as Warren A Junior Military Band. It is a non-profit organization with approximately 5,000 alumni. The current band has 116 members representing 22 different communities in the Trumbull and Mahoning county area.The band has traveled from the East Coast to Hawaii and from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico, performing at numerous events fordignitaries, presidents and prime ministers. It has toured Europe as goodwill ambassadors, and performed across the United States in compitition, tours, concerts, field shows and parades.In 1963 and 1984 the band was grand champion at the Flags of Freedom Compitition in Sun Prarie, Wisconsin and all-over grand champion in the Falling Leaves Festival in Salamanca, New York. The band has performed locally at various civic and social occaisions, area high school band nights and Fourth-of-July celebrations.Most recently the band received honors from the City of Warren, the Ohio General Assembly and Governor Richard Celeste at Noon-in-the-park festivities, where they Performed.
