| Two Original HousesMost of the earTer buildings in Kalona have burned or have been destroyed. There are however, two residences in the town that were in existence in the early days, probably builtaround 1880.Mrs Mary Beck, who, incidentally is one of the oldest citizens of Kalona. lives in a house that existed in the town’s pioneer days, and the house occupied now by Charles Bollinger, was built in 1880 or before, by William Gathercole. Mrs. Mary Beck’s house was built by her husband, the late Hugh Beck, and it has been their home all these years.
