IV. Cooper, at the residence of Esq. J. T. Coleman, on last Tuesday night, June 30. To (Ida reception a number of invitations were issued and by 9 o'clock of the appointed evening the spacious house of Esq. Coleman was filled almost lo overflowing, with a splendid assemblage of Christian county’s elite, who had cornu to do honor to Mr. and Mrs. Cooper. Social converse,together with sweet strains of music ou the piano am) harp, occupied the attention of the crowd until the announcement of supper called the guests from the parlor lo the dining room. Here the heart of the gourmand was tilled with delight by llio sight of several long tables that almost gave way beneath their burden of eatables. Meats, saluds, sauces, pickles, jollies, codec and tea constituted the first course which was followed by the choicest cakes, custards, Ices,ambrosia, wines, fruits and confections, all of which made up a bill of fare that could not be excelled for variety and quality. Full justice having been done to the elegant supper, tlio guests repaired to the parlor to continue their social pleasures until the llrst streaks of dawn compelled a reluctant dispersion of the happy crowd.Thus passed uway an evening of unalloyed enjoyment, which will always remain as a delightful reminiscence in the minds of all present on the joyous occasion.To Mr. and Mrs. Cooper Camille kindly offers his warmest congratulations and hopes that the auspicious circumstances surrounding their nuptials, may bu an earnest of genuine happiness to bless their wedded life. Coleman ami his uoble wife for their very kind and courteous treatment of their guests.t)u the 4th of July, 1884, a parly of 32 young ladies and gentlemen, from Clarksville, Tonn., met nt “ttainbow Hock,” a picturesque spot, ! miles from Itlissellvillc, Ky., to celebrate the national holiday. Here this party formed themselves Into a club for social ami mental improvement, and assumed the name of llainbow Club from the place id' organi/.ation. During the past year Ibis club has held semi-monthly meetings at the houses of its diUt-rent members, and despite the predict ions of the pessimists to the ooulrary it has grown in stie.igth and popularity until it has become one of the substantial institutions of Clarksville. The members wishing lo again display their patriotic impulses as well as lo celebrate the lirst anniversary of the “Haiubow Club, determined to have another pic-uic on last Friday, tin; male members being unable to icavo business ou Saturday, and Coleman's grove in this neighborhood was selected as a suitable place for said pic-nic. So at ! o'clock on Friday morning a special train on the I. A. T. it. It , dashed into Howell, bringing a crowd of 31 young ladies and gentlemen, than whom your correspondent never saw a gayer party, who were quickly transferred to wagons secured for the occasion and taken to the place appointed for the pic-uic about 3 miles from Howell. Here the party were met by a half do7.cn couples invited from this vicinity, and after removing the dust of travel and exchanging a few civilities tho club was called to order by its President, Mr. A.
