Doctor William Newkirk is Transfered to Camp ShilohHAS SERVED THE PAST NINETEEN MONTHS AS SURGEON AT CAMP EAGLETONNews was received here this week of the transfer of Dr, William Newkirk, son of Mr, and Mrs. M. F. Newkirk, to Camp Shiloh at Russellville, Arkansas. Dr. Newkirk for the past nineeen months has been Camp Surgeon at Camp Eagleton, near Mena, Arkansas.Dr. Newkirk is a graduate of the Oxford high school, class of 1925. After seven years study at the University of Iowa he was awarded a de-- gree of Doctor of Medicine. He 1 served his interneship at West Suburban Hospital, Chicago, and from 1 there went to South Dakota and later to Mena, Arkansas.1 The Camp Eagleton newspaper in commenting on Dr. Newkh’k's transfer has the following to say:' “Lt. Newkirk has been our Camp Surgeon for nineteen months and ► during his stay has made many• friends among the boys as well as i the official and technical personnel.* He has also contacted and made 5 many friends in Mena. His transfer i is a great loss to CCC company 747, ■ Camp Eagleton. We are all sorryto have,him leave us, and we hope that he will enjoy his work in his I new location. Our loss is Camp 5 Shiloh's gain. It is the sincere hope of all concerned that the transfer is temporary,Both Lt. and Mrs. Newkirk will be greatly missed from our midst and we all join in wishing them continued success in their new home, and at the same time we want them to know that they have a standing invitation to come back to see us at any and all opportunities.”DR.
