On hoi tiip up, the Michigan look from Mackinaw the Deputy-Sherriff of that county, Lyman George, with two or three others, who proceeded to Washington Harbor, got a posse of armed men, with whom they returned to Beaver Ilaibor, for the puipose of anesting a number of men who had set (h e to some houses, committed thefcs and other depredations on the inhabitants of other portions of the Island. At Beaver -Ilarbor five men wore arrested, and taken on boaid the steamer, charged with theft, c. We were able to learn but two of thier names. They are Field and Bi iggs. Considerable resistance was offered, and it was not until the armed posse with the Slier-iff.leveled their weapons to fire upon them lliat they submitted While making these arrests another man, whose name is Samuel Wright, interfered to pi event the arrests being made. He presented a pistol at one of the officers, but it was immediately taken from him, and he was taken on board with the other piisoners. The six were brought down to Mack-inaw, and are now confined at that place. It was thought that Strang could not possibly survive. His lower .limbs, from his hips down, were eu-liiely paralyzed. The report that he would recover, is thought to have been put aflote by the Mormons,to intimidate people from coming hereto make arrests. The tw.o men who« yshot Strang also.went up on the Michigan, and returned again to Mackinaw. Considerable excitement prevails at Mackinaw and Washington Harbor against Strang and his followers, and armed companies are fitting out at both places for the purpose of going to Beaver Harbor to make arrests. A company of 100 men was already formed at Washington Harbor, and a company of 50 at Mackinaw.;—They jvould proceed to the Island with, sail, vessels.— While the Michigan was at the Island, A. R. Williams of DeTour, was a,t Strang’s house, and identified property which had been stolen from him some, time previously. Strang had issued an edict, stating, that het . i * * - •* V '*had a revelaton from God; and that the H.'S. steamer Michigan, must* never be allowed to enter the .port of St. James again.—Detroit Adv.'no.ihDibeVI.ur.Mbuidijo I ■PJtec
