Card the Public Regarding the Nellie May Hill Case. Shelbyville, Ind., July 8, 1905. Editor Democrat: Owing to the many rumors in cir culation regarding the Hill case, we, the parents of Mrs. Hill, feel it our duty to make the following explana tion to the public: Following the advice of Dr. C. A. Tindall, the family physician, we deemed it advisable to take our daughter and son-in-law away from the scene of the murder as soon after the funeral as possible. But before leaving the city we gave our address and telephone number to both Mr. Elmer Bassett, the prosecuting at torney, and Mr. Hawkins, the detec tive, so they could reach us by phone or person. Which they did. Will further say that the family have nothing to conceal , and are willing at any time, as far as in our power, to assist in any way to find the guilty party who struck the fatal blow that took the life of our little granddaughter, whom we all loved. Owing to the condition of Mrs. Hill, both physically and mentally, we kindly ask the public to refrain from annoying her by asking ques tions. Very Respectfully, MR. AND MRS. FP. M. CALBERT.
