New Railroad AssuredAn Associated Press dispatch fromGuthrie, O. T., states that a mortgage for $2,600,000 was tiled there with the Mississippi Valley Trust company of St. Louis, as trustee, to complete the Denver, Enid Gulf railroad from Guthrie northwest throughEnid and the counties of Grant and#Wood to the Kansas state line. The distance is 130 miles. The road is now in operation between Guthrie and Enid.The surveyois are now in the field between the southern border of Kan sas and Denver locating the line, and it is said that an understanding was had with the Denver, Northwestern Pacific regarding connections in Denver before the first formal step was taken. Furthermore, the vice president and general manager of the road, E. L. Peckham, has appointments to visit Denver during Jnly for the purpose of arranging terminals in that city and looking after the companys interests there.Exactly the same thing about theprimary object for the constructionof the line may be said about the newroad from Denison Tex., to Pueblo,which was incorporated severalmonthH ago, and which was financedwithin the past few weeks. Some ofthe people behind the rohd are Aur-thur E. Stillwell, president of theKansas City, Mexico Orient;George J. Gould, Edward Dickensonformerly general agent of the UnionPacific; Warren G. Purdy, formerlyposidenc of the liock Island; RusselHarding, vice president and generalmanager of the Missouri Pacific, andHerman Kuhn, the London Banker.No amount of arguing can convincereasonable people that this olass of men will build for a few miles and theu stop.—State Journal.
