Closing Exercises at Halifax Ladies’ Academy. I are glad to see, by an account of the closing exercises of Mount St. Vincent Ladies’ Academy, published In the Halifax papers, that our young Newfoundland ladies have done very well again this year. Miss Essie Keat ing, daughter of Mr.Thomas Keating, ex-Councillor of this city, takes 2nd me dallion in the senior division for amiable and correct deportment, gold medal for sewing, and a prize for vocal music. Last year Miss Keating took a first prize medal in domestic economy, and a prize for instrumental music. ‘This year Miss Bride Slattery, of this city, takes prizes for instrumental music, and a prize for vocal music. Miss Agnes Kava nagh, silver medal for sewing, prizes in water-color painting and Christian Doc trine. Miss Florrie Alsop takes first prize in vocal music, and gives promise of becoming a prodigy in the art. We congratulate the parents and friends of these young and talented ladies on these tangible evidences of the success of the year’s scholastic lnbors.
