Pursuant to previous notice, the Germans of Allen County celebrated the 78th Anniversary of American Independence in a truly patriotic man ner. We were much gratified to see so many noble spirits engage and participate in the com memoration of that glorious day that gave us political, civil, and religious lierty: and we trust that the virtues and excellencies thereof will ever prove a sufficient inducement for the faithful ob servance of that great day throughout all genera tions. When assembled in Ewing's Grove, the De claration of Independence was read by H. Oden dahil, Oration in German delivered by Mr. Crom roy, and in English by H. J. Rudisill. These gentleman did credict to themselves and great Jhonor to the country which we all cherish with pode, and are willing to defend under any and its circumstances from Invasion. The memory of those who sacrificed their lives on the Altar of liberty for our peaceful enjoyment, will, we hope, ever be treasured in our minds, and their virtues ever commemorated.
