Hack Saws Used By Plotters ‘In Successful Attempt Saturday Night. As Sheriff L. M. Martin started to place Ervin Russell, Searcy county suspect in the slaying of T. L. Wallis, in a cell of the Boone county jail at 11 ‘o'clock Saturday night for safekeeping, he discovered that five prisoners, had made their escape through a wine dow a few minutes before, his appearance. The escape, which had’ evidently ‘been carefully planned, was made possible when the prisoners placed paper in the cage door, the elever would not catch fasten their cells. ~These blocked when Deputy: U ‘s at shal J.L. Boen ‘placed a Federal prisoner in one of the cells, and after he had gone,” the prisoners were at large in the runway. Ten hack saws which had been smuggled in, were used to saw the bars of the runway and a withdew. Cleo and Norval West,Bob Mc Mann, Lee Wilhelm and Eugene Ware were the men who escaped while seven of the 12 prisoners preferred to remain in their cells and complete their terms. All the escaped men were held on grand and petit larceny charges.
