MYSTERIOUS DEATH OF ROBERT VAUGHN EXPLAINED BY LETTER TO SHERIFF. A. GERMAN FOUND DEAD IN LONELY GULCH WHERE HE POISONED HIMSELF. Mbrank Part of Bottle of Carbolic Acid and Carefully Corked Bottle Before Piery Fluid Could Overcome Him— Came From Allentown, Pa. Two suicides in twenty-four hours, in the record on the books of Coroner Hinson Thomas. The first was that of the cowboy, whose mysterious death, mentioned by the Silver Belt Sunday morning, was explained by the receipt of a letter from him by Sheriff J. H. Thompson yesterday afternoon, saying that the writer had ‘‘just tired of life’’ and was ‘‘not at all crazy.’’ The second case was that of E. A. German, who was found dead in a gulch about a mile and a half south of town yesterday afternoon. He had swallowed a half pint of whiskey, cork ed the bottle, laid it beside him with his hat and coat, then drank an ounce and a half out of a two ounce bottle of carbolic acid, corked that bottle tightly and threw it a short distance from him. Wanderlust and Booze. The cowboy’s case was, evidently, a pathetic story of the carrying away of a good man by the wanderlust and an uncontrollable appetite for liquor. With the obvious intent of sparing sorrow to his friends and loved ones, he had changed his name from Robert Henderson to ‘‘Bob Vaughn,’’ an alias by which he was known and well liked by many in the territory, escially among the cowboys, who knew his failing and sought to help him. Henderson took the Keely cure about a year ago. But he felt the fierce de sire for liquor coming over him again, and as he strove to overcome it, feeling that he was losing ground, he told “'Doc’’ Perry, a local bartender, that he knew what to do the ‘‘next time.’’ ‘What would you do?’’ asked Perry, casually. ‘
