Fred Reineke, driver for Groney Smith, was frightfully trampled upon by his own team last evening. Mr. Reineke had driven the team close by the railroad on the commons be tween Wayne and Jefferson streets, for the purpose of unloading some feed. While there he heard a train coming. He took a position right in front of the horses, holding one by the bridle. As the train approached they became more and more nervous, until by the time it reached them they were uncontrollable. They reared and jumped, tramped the driver down under their feet and started on a run across the open lot. The horses tramped all over the prostrate man, and two wheels passed over his body. He was picked up by some neighbors who saw the accident, and carried to a place under a shady tree, they thinking him dead. Dr. Stevens was sent for. He shortly resuscitated the unfortunate man and dressed his wounds, which were many. Both ears were nearly torn off, one eye bulged out, and his head broken in half a dozen places. In addition his body is badly bruised, but no bones broken.
