Fowler, of Brother-!rCtown, a procession was formed and mareh-•d to a pleasant grove, a short distance from the Tillage, wbeto the Declaration g of Independence was read in a solemn and dignified manner by Mr. White, of Calumet, An extemporaneous address was♦delivered by Mr. Hobart, of this Tillage, which was listened to with attention and loudly applaused by an appreciative an dienee At the close of his remarks Mr, Hobart, in feebalf of the citizens of iDhil-ton, cordially invited the company to attend a celebration at Chilton, on the 4th of July, 1861. The scene was occassional ly enlivened by some national airs, which were well executed by the band, as also was tome excellent singing by the Calumet County Musical Association. Inthe evening there was a large display ot ftreworks, and dancing was kept up un til daylight- Mr. Sta«e, the gentlemanly landlord of tbe Calumet lloute, out did himself on this occasion, and his numerous guests, we are certain, were satisfied with the arrangements made for their comfort and enjoyment, A laTge portion of the Cbiltoo delegation desires us to return thanks to Jonx C. Haves,Esq., — who was the principal poison in getting up the celebration, and did all in his power to make it pleasant to all— for bis kind hospitality on this occasion. Long may he flourish.
