Estie Marie Stamper Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. at Grace Community Church on Friday, July 8, 2011, for Estie Marie Stamper, 86, of Roswell, who passed away July 3, 2011. Interment will follow in South Park Cemetery. The Rev. John Drusedum of Grace Com munity Church and the Rev. Billy Tucker of Trinity Baptist Church, High Rolls, will officiate. Estie was born on May 31, 1925, in Ashland, Ky., to Ernest and Lora Boggs Leadingham. They preced ed her in death. She mar ried Everett Stamper on Nov. 24, 1945. He preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Clifford Lead ingham and Dr. Henry Leadingham. She is survived by a daughter Jan Smith and her husband Virgil, of Roswell; a granddaughter, Tina Garcia and her hus band Patrick, of Rio Ran cho; two great-granddaugh ters, Shelby and Kaitlin Garcia; a great-grandson Trason Garcia; and one great-great-grandson Dax den Isaiah Garcia, all of Rio Rancho;a brother, Dr. Ed Leadingham and his wife Betti, of Roswell; three sis ters, Lillian Rayburn, of Ashland, Randi and her husband Clarence Will iams, of Lexington, Ky., and Bobbe and her hus band Jim Poe, of Zanesville, Ohio; and numerous special nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a very special friend Stu Putnam of Roswell, and a host of many friends. Estie and her family enjoyed traveling ing with family and friends. She also enjoyed bowling and golf. She loved her church families at Grace Community Church and Bethel Baptist Church. Her favorite time spent was see by family and friends. Ferns A rosary will be held at LaGrone Funeral Chapel on July 15, 2011, at 7 p.m. and a memorial Mass will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church on July 16, 2011, at 10 a.m. for Lawrence J. Ferns, who went home to be with the Lord on March 5, 2011, after battling numerous ail ments for several years. Mass at St. Peter Catholic Church will be celebrated by the Rev. Cormac Antram, brother-in-law to the deceased. Larry or (Bud) was born on July 19, 1922, at Har ris, Kan., to Steve Ferns and Rose Nigles. He had been a resident of Roswell and a member of St. Peter He served as raped for/gunner on a B-17 bomber that was shot down on June 22, 1943, while on a bombing mission target ing a synthetic rubber plant at Huls, Germany. The crew of 10 was forced to bail out of their plane over Holland and Larry was captured by Ger man soldiers and held as a prisoner of war for nearly two years. He was one of seven chil dren, Teresa Davis (deceased), of Silver Lake, Kan., Joe Ferns (deceased), of Ottawa, Kan., Rose Roberts (deceased), of Roswell, Luelle Buhman (twin sister) and her hus band Harold, of Clarksdale, Mo., Mary Hix (deceased), of Albuquerque, and Helen Hasler, of Lawrence, Kan. He is survived by his dear wife of 66 years Mary Virginia (Antram) Ferns, of Roswell. He was preceded in death by his loving daughter Mary Ann Hatch, of Littleton, Colo., and by his oldest grandson Eric Ferns, of Santa Fe. He is survived by Larry Jr. and his wife Isabel, of Santa Fe, Robert and his wife Nancy, of Cedar Crest, Bill and his wife Montie, of Hobbs, Joanne Evans and her hus band Doug, of Kodiak, Alaska, Diane Slabisak, of San Antonio, Texas, Sharon Chamberlain and her husband Mark, of Arlington, Texas, and Karen Ferns of Dallas. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was employed by the United States Postal Serv ice for 32 years, serving in many different positions, reaching the assignment of superintendent of mails. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veter ans and American Ex-Pris oners of War, and an insur ance member of the Knights of Columbus and tional Rural Carriers Association As requested, his remains were entrusted to LaGrone Funeral Chapel for cremation and burial with military honors was held on June 13, 2011, at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel. R.L.W. (Jimmie) Sim mons was born on Feb. 17, 1927, to Luke L. Simmons and Ada Belle Blount, who preceded him in death. Jimmie passed away in Roswell, July 3, 2011, at the age of 84. Jimmie was born in Oswalt, Love Coun ty, Oklo. His family moved to Roswell when he was 3 years old, where he lived out his life. He was a jack of all trades, including truck driver, construction foreman, weller in oil and water and many more. He proudly served his country in the Army from January 1945 to February 1947. He received the World War II Victory medal, and Army of Occupation medal. He married Nancy Rogers on Jan. 3, 1964. She pre ceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Ann; three sisters, Lorene Rader, Jack ie Gonzales and Mary Ellen Huddleston; and a brother Robert Alfred Simmons. 2011, at 10 a.m. in South Park Cemetery. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Bishop Hank Malcom of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Pallbearers include Shawn Huddleston, Brian Cobb, Chuck Cobb, Nathan Cobb, Les Lucart and Morgan Keltner. Daniel was born Oct. 9, 1978, in Roswell, to Jose Luis Aguirre and Cecilia Montoya. Daniel was a member of Church of Christ. He liked listening to Spanish music and dancing. Daniel liked joking around with his fam ily. He really enjoyed eating spaghetti and his grand mas’ gorditas. Pallbearers will be Jerry Aguirre, Alonso Pillado, Juan Aguirre, Herman Oli vas, Jimmy Olivas, David Noriega, Patrick Mendoza and Michael Villalobos.
